So I haven't updated in a while...whatever. :D Life's good. I'm looking forward to school starting again (I know, I'm weird). Soccer starts this month and I'm SOOOOOOOO ready! Hey Joy, are you doing NCSL? I was just curious. Sam is getting SO incredibly big! Went camping last monday with some friends. We went to Port Angeles and Crescent Lake. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO incredibly gorgeous. I'm still working on getting my license, urggg. All I need to do is take the tests. It has to be soon though cause I have to be able to drive myself to soccer and school. Does anybody else think that life is changing too quickly? Seriously. I'm both liking it and hating it. lol. My mom, grandma, sis and I are going to Disney Land in November--YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get to watch sam for 9 days this month while my parents go to Hawaii. I'm glad they get to escape; they work way to hard. Well, hope all's well for everyone else.

Tata,
Kay

July 23, 2005

Crowd Pleasers

Read:
John 12:35-43

They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. —John 12:43

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 49-51

cover I once read a newspaper story about an old carnival headliner nicknamed "Cannonball." In his younger days, he was blasted out of a cannon 1,200 times, pulled a 90-pound weight across a table with his eyelids, and performed many other bizarre stunts. When asked why he did such things, he replied, "Do you know what it's like to feel the applause of 60,000 people? That's why I did it over and over."

In John 12 we learn about some leaders who were also motivated by a desire to please others. In their case, however, they refused to follow Jesus openly because they wanted to be accepted by the Pharisees. Although they had seen the Savior's miracles and believed in Him, they wouldn't acknowledge this publicly. "They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God" (v.43). And I believe we are safe in assuming that many people failed to turn to Jesus because they were also crowd pleasers who feared the disapproval of these "chief" crowd pleasers.

We are all subject to social pressures. If we are true to ourselves and to God, we'll be able to withstand the strong pull of the crowd. But if we become crowd pleasers, we'll be in far worse shape than the man who kept climbing back into that cannon! —Mart De Haan

If we, to gain the world's applause,
Refuse to own the Savior's cause,
What shame will fill us on that day
When Thou Thy glory shall display! —Anon.

Yielding to God's Spirit within prevents conforming to the world without.

Well, thought I should update. Things have been really quiet here since
I'm on SPRING BREAK! WOOHOO! I've been eating easter candy and laying
around though--I wish I could go out and do something fun. However, I
might go to the tulip festival tomorrow. When we lived in Mt. Vernon we
really didn't care about it because we saw the tulips all the time, now
we're all excited. hehe. We have a favorite ice cream shop up there
that we go to as well. So anyways, Joy, you're the only one who ever
comments hehe. I don't think anyone else reads this. Oh well.
I felt bad because I wasn't able to do that good but hey, I tried my hardest and that's all I can do. ALthough it didn't help when my dad said that I looked funny because my legs looked like they were 'wobbly' the whole time...thanks dad. When I got home I discovered that I had two black toes and all circulation to my feet cut off because of the shin-guards. fun. Okay, see ya later!

P.S--I really do like indoor soccer, I just hope i get better. :)

Hello All!
Long time, no chat! Soooooooooo much has been going on here! Guess
what? I LOVE DRIVING! I COULD DRIVE
ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
DAY LONG! My second drive was supposed to be all about parking the car
but when I got there and explained to my instructor how frustrated I
was with it he asked "Well, would you rather do your third drive rather
than your second drive? I looked at him like he had just told me we
were going to Disney Land "You mean I can do freeway driving today
instead of parking?!!!!" "Sure, why not?" And so now I have driven on
every road around my house. I accidentally got up to 80 miles per hour
on the freeway. woops. Hey, give me a break, we were near Stanwood and
everyone else was going 80-85. The actual speed limit was 70. I had to
merge and do lane changes like 7 times each. It was fun. The mini
cooper drives like A DREAM!!!! Now if only I can master the art of
parking a vehicle...

Last night Alissa and I went to a Lincoln Day dinner at the Everett
Events center. We had to buy new dresses (formals), and get all of our
accesories (jewelery, shawls, etc)...unfortunatly for me it was a bit
much...but Alissa enjoyed it. I'm just not real big on putting lots of
makeup on and all sorts of 'bling bling' jewelery. Ahhh well. Mom and
Alissa insisted I wear extra make up so mom did it...what a pain in the
rear that turned out to be. AND doing my hair took forever! I'm so
happy that my mom was willing to do it for me though--she's the best
mom anyone could possibly have. So anyways, we get to the dinner and
guess who we got our picture taken with? That's right....DINO ROSSI!
He's so awesome! It was actually Mike and Sarai Hope who invited us to
this dinner as a way of thanking us for campaigning for them. I just
love those two. The speakers were incredible...Bob Williams, Mike
Siegal, Dino Rossi, Hank (something or other)... These doings always
get me pepped up to do more campaigning. Bob Williams had a speech on
9/11 and how many have forgotten about it; he brought of the point that
more people were killed in the 9/11 attacks than at Pearl Harbor. I
could just go on and on and on...but I won't.

Tomorrow my dad and I are
going to be attending a Running Start meeting at my school. Can you
believe it? I get to do running start next year!!!! That's so weird but
cool too. My brother says that classes at Everett Community College are
way easier than HomeLinks though. Works for me. hehe. Sunday School
went well today--I didn't know it but all of the other teachers thought
I was 18 0r 19! (?) That's WEIRD. I don't look anywhere near that age.
lol. I have now been asigned as the new worship pastor. WOW, I hope
this goes well. I want to start doing softball this spring--I'm SO sick
of being trapped in our house. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Oh, I'm finally
better! However, Sam got the same thing I had. poor buddy. :( Alright,
I'm going to leave for now. Take care all! Signing off...
Stay tuned....

Figured it's time to post again.

I'll start out with my 'vent' of the day. Okay, I'm so ticked off because the lead teacher of the Sunday school I co-teach with is taking time off from sunday school for a month or longer. I'm so lost now! I have to do allllllllll the planning, alllllllll of the extra work, I don't know. It's sooo maddening. THere has been one week where 26 girls showed up. I don't know if me, a 15 year old, can handle 26 girls and a parent helper who has no clue what they're doing. Why why why? School, music, drivers ed, and now this. UGGGHHH

Okay, moving on. Today's Korean Lunar New Year dinner was sooo cool. It was fun getting to see all the little Korean babies ANDDDDD MELISSA (of course) Sammy was EXTREMELY vocal throughout the whole thing...YIKES. Melissa entertained him for a while--now that was cool. I was so embarassed though because my grandma Alice kept making rude remarks about the food "wow, this has the texture of rubber"...two seconds later..."sure is chewy isn't it?"...three seconds later "wow, your jaw sure gets a workout" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Doesn't help that my uncle was trying to be funny and said the noodles looked like a bowl of leeches. He's such a dork. Curt ate a big bite of Kimche (sp?) and then just about died. He didn't know what it was so he took a REALLY big bite. Poor guy. hehehe.

OOOOPs, I have to go now. Explain later. See ya
